ICE Raids IFCO Over Un-pallet-able Employment Practices

Washington Post / Associated Press: Executives Arrested in Immigration Raids. Immigration agents arrested seven executives and hundreds of employees of a manufacturer of crates and pallets Wednesday as part of a crackdown on employers of illegal workers.

And all this happening on the eve of Congress fumbling over various plans to offer amnesty to millions of undocumented workers—or illegal aliens—depending on which arguments in the immigration debate you favor. I’ve added IFCO Systems NV contracts to the site.

Pug Law

I’m starting a new category for interesting legal sites that I come across. Lil’ Sheba has just unveiled a new Dog Law site in cooperation with Nolo (a self-help legal information site) and Justia (a law firm web design company). Sheba offers resources for dealing with barking dogs, dangerous dogs, leash laws and more.

Drug Testing the Prison Track Team?

Reuters: Conte Tells of Steroids Debate in Prison. According to his letter, Conte was involved in activities from both of his previous careers at Taft, a federal prison run by the GEO Group, a publicly traded company. “I have also been giving inmates music lessons on both the bass and guitar,” he said. “In addition, I have assembled a track team and have been teaching some of the inmates how to sprint.”

I’ve updated the GEO Group contracts.

MEDIAWEEK: Post iVillage, Big Media Eye Sites . If you can deliver the traffic, the time is coming to cash in. One look at NBC Universal’s $600 million purchase of women’s portal iVillage last week shows that it’s a good time to be an independent Web publisher.

I’ve posted the Merger Agreement between NBC Universal and iVillage under iVillage contracts.

West Virginia Mining Disaster II

San Francisco Chronicle/New York Times: Rescuers too late to save trapped miners. An agonizing two-day wait came to a tragic end on Saturday when rescue workers found the bodies of two coal miners who were trapped by a fire that began on a conveyor belt 900 feet underground…. The mine is operated by Aracoma Coal, a subsidiary of the Massey Energy Company, based in Richmond, Va.

Massey Energy contracts are now online. However, there’s not as much to see as with International Coal Group.

Other recent postings include Cavion Technologies contracts and Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services contracts.

I’ve posted aQuantive contracts to the site.

West Virginia Mining Disaster

Forbes: Mine Deaths May Bring Scrutiny to Ross’ International Coal. Rolling up a host of smaller companies can bring a host of risks, but they are usually more financial than physical. That was not the case yesterday at a coal company brought under the umbrella of billionaire investor Wilbur Ross, and his group is now facing the consequences.

I’ve added International Coal Group contracts to the web site. There are a number of coal leases, as well as an Advisory Services Agreement with W.L. Ross & Co. and an Employment Agreement between International Coal Group and Bennett Hatfield.
