Web 2.0?

I spotted this line from a recent consulting agreement: “to help the Group make a successful and profitable transition from so called ‘traditional media’ to new media technologies.” Wow! Looks like some company wants to offer streaming video or find a way to monetize online content. Or, since everyone wants to enter the social network space, maybe become the Facebook of [fill in the blank]. So, which “traditional media” company is this? Well, in their recent annual report, the company describes itself as the “leading international provider of high quality adult media content.” πŸ™‚ New media technologies, eh?

Also added GenuTec Business Solutions Inc. contracts, HireRight Inc. contracts, AMC Entertainment Inc. contracts, China Security & Surveillance Technology Inc. contracts.

Private Suite License Agreement

The Cleveland Browns Football Co. LLC sued Telantis Group Corp. for not paying license fees pursuant to a private suite license agreement. $90,000 for a private suite, and that doesn’t even include the cost of game tickets!

Role Reversal

This sub-prime quagmire is dragging a lot of companies down with it. One minute, you’re a creditor. The next minute, you’re a debtor. Voila! Does this remind anyone of 2000? First, the shaky internet companies fell. Yeah, those that are not around today. Then, the rest of the ecosystem got bludgeoned. Even the big guys.

Sure, some pundits are talking about segmentation in the real estate and how the sub-prime quagmire has hurt the entry-level real estate market while leaving the higher end market intact. Flight to quality? I don’t buy it. The real estate market is too interconnected and if home prices are out of reach for entry-level buyers, than those holding entry-level homes cannot turn around and sell them (at current prices) and upgrade to a nicer home or nicer neighborhood.

Anyways, I’ve added American Home Mortgage Investment Corp. contracts. They filed for bankruptcy protection earlier last month.

Mark Cuban Takes on StoresOnline, Inc.

blog maverick: Are You Ready to Claim YOUR Share of the Billions in Revenue on the Internet? That’s what invitation from C. R. Sanderson said. Its also the invitation I had been waiting on for a long time. Why? Because it came from StoresOnline. StoresOnline is a public company that i have been short in the past, but currently don’t have a position in.

The SEC lists the company as Imergent Inc. I’ve added Imergent Inc. contracts to the website. If you visit the StoresOnline website, check out their technology blog. Having visited a fair share of blogs, I’m not sure I would call their blog a blog. And, what’s up with “Visit the Blog as often as you wish, as it will be updated regularly.” The last post by the “Resource Administrator” was April 3. Uh, that’s four months ago.

Game On

BusinessWeek: Microsoft Loses Peter Moore. Fresh off the startling announcement that it would take a charge of more than $1 billion to cover costs of repairing defective Xbox 360 video game consoles, Microsoft announced July 17 that its top gaming executive, Peter Moore, was leaving to run the sports franchise at top independent video game publisher Electronic Arts.

I’ve just posted the Offer Letter from Electronic Arts Inc. to Peter Moore.

Presidential Sex Scandal

Associated Press: Conservatives Upset at Romney for Not Doing More to Halt On-Demand Porn at Marriotts. Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney, who rails against the “cesspool” of pornography, is being criticized by social conservatives who argue that he should have tried to halt hardcore hotel movie offerings during his near-decade on the Marriott board.

Here’s the Service Agreement between On Command Corp. and Marriott International Inc. that makes all that on-demand porn possible. Mitt Romney is in a bind here. From the left, Al Sharpton criticizes Mitt Romney for not really believing in God. From the right, the social conservatives criticize Romney for, uh, not being Mormon enough.

Next up, prohibitionists against Romney because Marriott sells alcohol. Then, the American Dental Association opposing Romney because Marriott sells caffeinated sodas? You can find the rest of the On Command Corp. contracts on the site as well.

Warcraft: Scrivener’s Crusade

When I first spotted this Warcraft Contract a few months ago, I was wondering why they were localizing World of Warcraft for the China market. Can people in China really afford to spend their money playing World of Warcraft? If you’ve never heard of World of Warcraft, South Park has this hilarious take on World of Warcraft.

Anyways, the New York Times explains it allβ€”The Life of a Chinese Gold Farmer. Basically, gamers in China complete some of the more mundane, repetitive tasks in World of Warcraft to collect gold and then sell their gold to American gamers who can then spend their time on the more fun aspects of the game. Globalism, eh?

But, not everyone is keen on this, hence the Warcraft Lawsuit. You can read the complaint courtesy of Justia. So, what next? Can I select a lawyer as my avatar? If someone kills my avatar, can I sue them for wrongful death? πŸ˜‰

Going Solar

CNET News.com: China Sunergy Goes Public as Solar Panels Get Cheaper. China Sunergy, a solar cell manufacturer out of Nanjing, sold 8.5 million depositary shares (the vehicle foreign companies use to list their stocks in U.S. exchanges) on Nasdaq this week. The stock went out at $11, shot up to about $16, and is now resting between $14 and $15.

That was a month ago. Now, the stock made a round-trip and is back at $11.11. I’ve added China Sunergy contracts to the website. Seems like a lot of Chinese solar companies have been listed lately.
